Trece Martires City, Cavite — November 18, 2025. The Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) CALABARZON gathered media partners, coconut farmers, and exhibitors for its Coco Fiesta Media Hour: Huntahan sa Pagniniyugan held at SM City Trece Martires. The event served as a platform to highlight ongoing programs and new initiatives aimed at revitalizing the coconut industry across the region.

Mr. Bibiano C. Concibido, Jr., Regional Manager III of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Region IV-A, discussed major developments under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP). He emphasized PCA’s ambitious national goal of planting 100 million coconut trees, a move essential to restoring the Philippines’ status as the world’s top coconut-producing country.

As part of PCA’s strengthened support for coconut farmers, Concibido also announced the rollout of medical and dental services under CFIDP, intended to improve the well-being of coconut farming communities who often lack access to essential healthcare.

To boost youth involvement in agriculture, PCA highlighted key programs such as scholarships, youth internship opportunities, and the upcoming launch of “Cocobataan,” a youth-engagement initiative designed to introduce young Filipinos to the opportunities within coconut farming. Another major announcement was the formation of a Young Coconut Farmers Association, which seeks to empower the next generation of coconut growers and encourage leadership among young agriculturists.

Concibido further assured farmers that PCA is committed to rapid response mechanisms for coconut infestations, noting that the agency continues to strengthen monitoring and control strategies to protect coconut farms from pests and diseases. He also reminded stakeholders that several existing national laws already safeguard agricultural lands, ensuring that coconut plantations and other farmlands remain protected from conversion and misuse.

Adding vibrance to the event were exhibitors showcasing a diverse array of coconut-based products, reflecting the versatility and economic potential of the crop. Visitors explored various items such as virgin coconut oil, coco sugar, coco jam, coco vinegar, handicrafts, wellness products, and other innovative goods produced by local MSMEs and farmer cooperatives. The exhibit not only highlighted local creativity but also demonstrated how value-adding ventures can uplift coconut communities economically.

The Coco Fiesta Media Hour underscored the unified efforts of ATI CALABARZON, PCA, and local partners in strengthening the coconut sector through education, innovation, and sustainable development. With expanded support programs and rising youth involvement, the region continues to move toward a more resilient and thriving coconut industry.
