PhilHealth Launches YAKAP for Workers on Labor Day

BACOOR CITY, Cavite / STA. ROSA, Laguna — The PhilHealth Regional Office IV-A launched its YAKAP program for workers on May 1 in line with the celebration of Labor Day, bringing healthcare services closer to employees.

The initiative was rolled out simultaneously at Main Square Mall and WalterMart Santa Rosa, led by Acting Regional Vice President Edwin M. Oriña.

The YAKAP (Yaman ng Kalusugan Program) aims to provide workers with easier access to essential health services, including membership registration, updating of records, consultation on benefits, and guidance on how to avail themselves of PhilHealth packages.

Employees from various sectors visited the booths to inquire about their coverage, contributions, and available medical benefits. PhilHealth personnel also assisted workers in navigating digital services and addressing concerns related to claims and eligibility.

Officials said the program highlights the importance of preventive healthcare and encourages workers to regularly monitor their health status. By bringing services directly to accessible public locations such as malls, PhilHealth hopes to reach more members who may not have the time to visit offices during regular working hours.

The initiative forms part of the agency’s continuing effort to strengthen healthcare access under the Universal Health Care program, ensuring that workers are not only protected but also empowered to maintain their well-being and productivity.
