CAVITE – June 29, 2025 — As her term draws to a close, Cavite Governor Athena Tolentino, the first woman to hold both the Vice Governor and Governor positions in the province, delivered a heartfelt message of gratitude, reflection, and continued commitment to public service.
In an emotional statement, the outgoing Governor expressed her deepest thanks to the people of Cavite for the trust and support they extended throughout her administration. “Though tomorrow marks my final day as your ‘Ina ng Lalawigan,’ this is not goodbye,” she said. “In Cavite, care, service, and compassion must never end with a term.”
Despite her relatively short time in office, the Governor emphasized the meaningful impact of her administration’s programs and initiatives, which were built on the principles of inclusivity, accountability, and community care. Among the most notable achievements are:
-Over 125,000 women empowered through the Women’s Welfare Program
-More than 13,000 students assisted via Educational Support Programs
-Passage of the Mental Health Ordinance, making #HealthISIP Cavite a reality
-Distribution of over 200 ambulances across towns and cities
-Launch of the 1st Cavite Art Fair, promoting local talent and creative industries
-Continuation of essential services including medical aid, dental missions, burial support, livelihood programs, and youth empowerment initiatives
“These projects were never meant for the few,” the Governor stressed. “The people’s money must return to the people. That is our duty and our promise.”
She extended heartfelt appreciation to taxpayers, volunteers, LGU partners, youth leaders, public servants, and all who contributed to the province’s progress during her leadership. “Your faith in our vision turned ideas into action,” she said.
Looking ahead, the Governor urged unity and support for the incoming administration, affirming that “their success is our collective success.” While her term ends, she reaffirmed her commitment to continue serving the people in any capacity possible: “Alaga does not end here. I remain one with you – as a public servant, a fellow Caviteño, and a friend.”
In her final words, she said it was a great honor to have served Cavite as its first female Governor and Vice Governor. /PR
