CARMONA, Cavite — More than 100 young residents participated in the Community-Based Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Symposium (APPS) and Orientation on Project D.R.E.A.M.S. (Delivering Resilience, Empathy, and Advocacy for Mental Support) held on May 29 in Carmona.
The activity was spearheaded by the Office of the City Population Officer (POPCOM) Carmona in partnership with the Cavite Provincial Population Office and the Community Affairs and Youth Development Office (CAYDO) Carmona as part of the city’s continuing efforts to promote youth development, responsible decision-making, and mental wellness.
The symposium aimed to help reduce cases of adolescent pregnancy by educating participants on its potential effects on health, education, future opportunities, and family life. Through informative discussions and interactive film presentations, the youth gained a better understanding of reproductive health, self-worth, and the importance of making informed and responsible life choices.
Resource speakers also emphasized the role of parents, schools, communities, and young people themselves in creating a supportive environment that encourages healthy behaviors and positive decision-making among adolescents.
In addition, participants attended the orientation for Project D.R.E.A.M.S., a mental health initiative designed to raise awareness about emotional well-being and provide support mechanisms for young individuals facing personal and social challenges. The program promotes self-care, mindfulness, resilience, empathy, and positive coping strategies to help young people navigate the pressures of daily life.
City officials highlighted the importance of addressing both adolescent pregnancy and mental health concerns through community-based programs that empower youth with knowledge, guidance, and access to support services.
The activity reflects the City Government of Carmona’s commitment to building a healthier, more informed, and resilient generation of young leaders equipped to make responsible choices and contribute positively to their communities.
