BACOOR CITY, Cavite – The City Government of Bacoor, led by Mayor Strike B. Revilla and Vice Mayor Rowena Bautista Mendiola, conducted a Skill Enhancement Training for barangay tanod on September 10, 2025, through the Barangay Affairs Office.

The simultaneous training sessions were held at Villar Hall, which gathered participants from Aniban 1 & 2, Bayanan, Dulong Bayan, and Molino 1–4, and at Gawaran Hall, which hosted tanod from Habay 1 & 2, Ligas 1, Kaingin Digman, Niog, and Molino 5–7.

Present during the activity were Liga ng mga Barangay Vice President Randy Francisco, Chief Prosecutor Fiscal Johnny Ompong, and PLtCol Alexie Desamito, Chief of Bacoor PNP, alongside representatives from partner offices.

Mayor Revilla highlighted the vital role of barangay tanod as the community’s “first line of defense,” noting the manpower limitations of the city government. He announced plans to issue an executive order deputizing tanod, giving them expanded authority to enforce local ordinances.

The mayor also stressed impartiality in law enforcement, reminding tanod to uphold the law without favoritism. “Kung mali, mali, regardless of whether they are your kamag-anak, kapitbahay, o kumpare,” he said.

As recognition of their service, Mayor Revilla announced an additional allowance of P2,000 for tanod, with hopes of further increases as the city’s financial resources grow.

He concluded by underscoring the shared responsibility of building a safe and secure Bacoor, urging tanod to work closely with the city government in ensuring peace and order for the community. /PR
