115 Imuseño Athletes Receive Cash Incentives from City Government

Imus City, Cavite — August 19, 2025 — A total of 115 young athletes from Imus were recognized by the local government during the Dunong at Lakas Awarding Ceremony held on Tuesday at the New Imus City Government Center Function Hall.
The athletes, who excelled in various sports and academic competitions, received certificates and cash incentives from the City Government of Imus as a token of recognition for their achievements. Among those honored were athletes in softball, football, table tennis, swimming, gymnastics, tennis, chess, taekwondo, sepak takraw, juvenile dancesport, and athletics, as well as campus journalists.
City of Imus Sports Development Unit Officer-in-Charge Jericho Reyes, together with Atty. Tricia Barzaga representing Mayor Alex “AA” Advincula, congratulated the awardees and lauded their hard work and determination.
One of the honorees, national athlete Jonnalyn Halasan, expressed her gratitude to the city government and her coaches for their unwavering support. Halasan, who has competed in the Palarong Pambansa for two consecutive years, brought home one silver and two gold medals. She also showcased her skills in the UAAP Season 87 (2024), where she clinched a gold medal in the Triple Jump and a silver in the Long Jump.
The Dunong at Lakas recognition is an annual tradition of the Imus LGU to honor young Imuseños who excel in both academics and sports, reinforcing the city’s commitment to nurturing talent and inspiring future champions. /PR
