Tragic Tagaytay Shooting Incident Claims Lives of Two Police Officers and a Suspect

Camp BGen Pantaleon Garcia, City of Imus, Cavite– A tragic shooting incident occurred around 2:15 PM at Prime Peak Subdivision, Barangay Maitim 2nd Central, City of Tagaytay, Cavite. The incident involved two police officers and three suspects, resulting in the deaths of two police officers and one suspect.

According to PLtCol Joven T. Bahil, Officer-in-Charge of the Tagaytay Component City Police Station, the fallen officers have been identified as PCapt Adrian Binalay, 43, assigned to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group National Capital Region (CIDG NCR), and PCapt Tomas Batarao Jr., recently placed under RPHAS, he is currently conducting a courtesy call following the completion of his schooling.

The suspects involved in the shooting were identified as Atty. Den, alias Ver, aged 52, and alias Ben, who is allegedly a retired sheriff.

Initial report indicate that the victims, along with their civilian companion, were in the area to inquire about purchasing a lot. Upon their arrival a security guard advised them against entering the subdivision. Despite this warning, the group proceeded. At that point, the suspect, identified as Atty. Santos, opened fire on the victims from inside his car, a Hyundai Creta with the plate number NIJ 1370, resulted to fatally wounded in the exchange.

PCapt Adrian Binalay was dead on the spot while PCapt Tomas Batarao Jr. and Atty. Den were rushed to a nearby hospital but were declared dead on arrival. Another suspect, Ben, was arrested at the Tagaytay Medical Center, while alias Ver was positively identified by a witness and apprehended shortly after.

Both suspects are currently detained at the Tagaytay Component City Police Station.

Police Regional Office CALABARZON Regional Director, PBGEN Paul Kenneth T. Lucas, ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident, emphasizing a commitment to diligence and impartiality in uncovering the facts surrounding this unfortunate event.
