Outpouring support bolsters oil spill response in Cavite

Trece Martires City – The ongoing response to the recent oil spill affecting Cavite has received significant reinforcement through the generous donations from local government units, national agencies and private partners ensuring and sustaining the efficient and effective cleanup of the affected areas in Cavite.

On August 5, Cleanway Environemntal Management Solutions Inc. has extended its support by donating 50 drums with covers, specifically designed to serve as containers for wastes contaminated with oil collected along the shorelines of Cavite during the cleanups of the Office of the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Officer, DENR-Cavite, and the Philippine Coast Guard. The substantial donation is expected to play a crucial role in safely storing and transporting contaminated materials, minimizing the environmental impact, and speeding up the overall cleanup process. The company also signified readiness to provide more containers whenever need.

Adding to this, All Waste Services from Santo Tomas, Batangas, also stepped forward with donation of 12 drums on August 6. Their swift response reflects the strong community spirit and cooperation across regions, highlighting the importance of collective efforts in addressing environmental emergencies.

In other response activities, the Provincial Government of Cavite (PGC) has also completed the hauling of the 25,000 relief packages provided by the DSWD Regional

Office IV-A through Dr. Regional Director, Dr. Barry R. Chua. Hauling was competed faster through the manpower augmentation of the 93 Army Reservist courtesy of the Reserve Command, Philippine Army thru BGen Samuel B. Manzano PA, RESCOM Deputy Commander. The PNP Provincial Office also extended their manpower support through Provincial Director PCol Eleuterio M Ricardo, Jr. deploying 25 PNP personnel to assist in the hauling activities, together with PNP-Maritime personnel.
