MAGALLANES, Cavite — The Municipality of Magallanes celebrated its 110th Founding Anniversary and Muscovado Festival on March 12, 2026, highlighting the town’s rich agricultural heritage and community spirit.

This year’s celebration carried the theme “Payak na Pinagmulan, Maunlad at Maningning na Pamayanan,” reflecting the municipality’s journey from humble beginnings to a progressive and vibrant community.

One of the highlights of the morning program was the Muscovado Festival cooking competition, where participants showcased their creativity by preparing various dishes using muscovado sugar as the main ingredient. The activity aimed to promote muscovado as one of Magallanes’ known local products while encouraging culinary innovation among residents.

In the afternoon, barangays took part in a kubo-building contest, where participants constructed traditional nipa huts using coconut and bamboo materials. The activity symbolized the community’s appreciation for the hardworking farmers whose efforts contribute significantly to the municipality’s agricultural economy.

Representing the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), DTI Cavite Business Counselor Mhea Alindugan served as one of the judges in both the cooking and kubo-building competitions.

Her participation underscored the agency’s continued support for promoting local products and strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the province.

Through activities such as the Muscovado Festival, local officials hope to further boost community pride, highlight Magallanes’ agricultural identity, and create opportunities for local entrepreneurs and producers.
