Cavite OFW Families Gain Food Processing Skills Through Livelihood Training

TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — Forty family members of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) gained practical skills in food processing during a livelihood training conducted by the Provincial Government of Cavite (PGC) on August 25, 2026.
The activity, organized through the Office of the Provincial Cooperatives Development Officer (OPCDO), was held at the Office of the Provincial General Services Office (OPGSO) Pantry Area at the New Provincial Government Center.
Participants were introduced to basic food processing techniques through hands-on activities and practical demonstrations. The training was designed to provide them with skills that may be used in preparing food products for household consumption or as a potential source of additional income.
The program also encouraged participants to explore small-scale livelihood opportunities, particularly food-based enterprises that can be started or developed within their communities.
The initiative forms part of the provincial government’s continuing efforts to assist OFW families beyond remittances by providing opportunities for skills development, entrepreneurship and greater economic self-reliance.
Through livelihood programs such as the food processing training, the PGC aims to help OFW families develop practical skills that can eventually be transformed into sustainable sources of income. — OPIO
